Forth Valley Royal Hospital, a £300m state-of-the-art NHS facility in Larbert, became the first UK hospital to deploy a fleet of delivery robots. Developers and facilities managers needed an automated system to cut paperwork and phone calls, streamline portering, estates, catering, security and car‑park operations, and support maintenance, asset and inventory management while keeping patient areas clear and reducing infection risk.

Serco selected SSG Insight’s Agility software to provide a computerised facilities management helpdesk and to integrate with the robotic vehicles. Agility handles dispatching porters, bedside meal ordering, work requests, maintenance planning and SLA‑driven dashboards, and monitors robot performance with alerts and reports. In the first three months the system supported over 100,000 meal deliveries, freed staff to focus on patient care, and set the stage for location-based PDA job allocation via Wi‑Fi.
