Rand Merchant Bank (RMB), a division of FirstRand Limited and a leading South African equities prime broker, needed a scalable, accurate portfolio management and client-reporting solution that could support rapid fund onboarding without growing headcount. RMB’s challenge included providing real-time, online client reporting, automated reconciliation with counterparties, and fast NAV publishing while keeping operational staff small.

SS&C Advent implemented its Advent Geneva platform (including Geneva Advantage for reconciliation) integrated with RMB’s website and internal systems, delivering near real-time reporting, automated exception management, and a highly automated processing model. The result: about 99% automation, reconciled NAVs published by 7:30, a team of three running the business, and the ability to add roughly 15 funds in 18 months without increasing staff (with capacity to double that), plus rapid two-week initial implementation and minimal upgrade effort.
