The Bank of England’s Prudential Regulation Authority was facing a fast-growing volume of unstructured data from the firms it supervises, but its existing document management system made search slow and difficult, with limited visualization and conversion capabilities. To support its goal of becoming a world-class RegTech authority, the Bank of England chose Squirro and its Cognitive Search application to make information easier to find and use.

Squirro built a custom data-loader plug-in to index documents from the Bank of England’s file systems, and added dashboards, PDF table extraction, machine-learning workflows, and communities features to personalize and enrich search. The solution went live in nine months despite Covid and strict security requirements, and users reported strong adoption and positive feedback, with continued high usage, major efficiency gains, and a large waiting list for demos.
