How Purdue University delivered end-to-end application monitoring using SquaredUp & SCOM

Purdue University worked with SquaredUp to address the challenge of monitoring a highly complex IT environment made up of multiple technology stacks, data sources, and teams. Their CIO-driven mandate was to deliver end-to-end application monitoring that could show application health and availability from the customer’s perspective, while also providing dashboards tailored to different audiences. The environment included tools such as SCOM 2016 and Microsoft OMS.

SquaredUp implemented a single-pane-of-glass approach that unified application topology, live health and performance data, and information from systems including Windows, Linux, Tomcat, F5, VMware, MySQL, Cisco Prime, and LibreNMS. Using SquaredUp’s Visual Application Discovery & Analysis (VADA) alongside SCOM and OMS, Purdue achieved a 50% reduction in MTTR and realized ROI in less than 6 months, while giving IT and business stakeholders a shared view of application performance.
