Scheels is a Midwestern sporting goods retailer with 24 stores and thousands of vendor relationships that historically relied on fax and phone orders. In 2011 several key suppliers required EDI, but Scheels’ lean IT team lacked the resources to build and manage EDI maps or to onboard vendors.

Scheels partnered with SPS Commerce to use its cloud-based EDI platform and vendor enablement services; SPS provided a trained team to engage suppliers and handle integration. The program connected several hundred vendors, streamlined order exchange, reduced IT burden, and delivered faster, more reliable trading‑partner relationships that vendors welcomed.
