National Business Furniture EDI Connected Vendors Triple with SPS Fulfillment, Community

National Business Furniture (NBF) is an online furniture retailer founded in 1975 that serves over 300,000 businesses—including hundreds of Fortune 500 companies, large universities, and government agencies—and processes more than 150,000 orders annually. NBF had outgrown a ten-year-old EDI solution that was costly and slow to onboard vendors; the company aimed to more than triple the number of vendors using EDI and adopt additional transactions to improve inventory visibility and customer service.

NBF partnered with SPS Commerce in 2016, whose Community and Fulfillment teams onboarded vendors using proven best practices and implemented EDI transactions like Advance Ship Notices to share inventory and shipment details. The project improved inventory accuracy, reduced backorders, enabled proactive delivery communications, delivered a positive vendor experience, and met NBF’s onboarding goals while moving toward managing 90% of orders on the new fulfillment platform and consolidating carrier connectivity.
