A SPS Commerce Case Study
Medical Sales & Service, a major Western Australian supplier of medical consumables and capital items to government and private hospitals, faced a 2009 directive from WA Health and NEHTA to publish its product and pricing data on the National Product Catalogue (NPC). The company needed to meet strict industry requirements and tight time and budget constraints to remain compliant and continue trading with public health jurisdictions.
SPS Commerce implemented a multi-layered solution that connected the company’s ERP to GS1net™, translated and validated product and pricing data against business rules, uploaded validated records, generated status notifications and responses, and maintained a backup copy to guard against data loss — all with encryption and authentication. The project was delivered on time and on budget, resulting in NPC compliance, fewer manual errors and lower costs, improved data security and trading relationships, and readiness for the next stage of online trading.
