Drakes Supermarkets, a 40-store grocer in South Australia managing more than 26,000 SKUs, moved in 2019 from wholesaler-supplied distribution to directly sourcing suppliers and opening a new distribution center. That shift created an urgent need for EDI to manage vendor relationships, meet tight go‑live deadlines and avoid manual bottlenecks — but Drakes had no prior EDI program or connected suppliers.
Drakes engaged SPS Commerce’s Community full‑service offering to build the platform and run vendor outreach, testing and onboarding on their behalf. SPS delivered nearly 40 vendors before the DC opened (now 60+ connected), enabled ASNs to speed receiving and eliminate manual checks, and provided order/shipment data to automate invoice reconciliation — reducing bottlenecks, improving inventory flow and enhancing the customer experience.
