A SPS Commerce Case Study

Preview of the Burlington Case Study

Improving supply chain performance through vendor collaboration

Burlington Stores, Inc., a leading off-price apparel and home goods retailer, was facing rising distribution costs as nationwide growth brought more non-compliant vendor shipments into its distribution centers. Problems such as improper packing, misprinted slips, incorrect substitutions, damaged goods, and late deliveries disrupted operations and made it harder for Burlington to reduce costs while improving service levels.

Burlington implemented SPS Commerce’s Supply Chain Performance Management to improve vendor collaboration and accountability. SPS Commerce unified data from Burlington’s systems, helped identify and resolve shipping and packaging violations faster, and improved communication with vendors. As a result, Burlington eliminated 63% of problem shipments, reduced distribution cost per unit by 8%, boosted DC productivity by 14%, and cut cycle time by more than 40%.
