Kömpf 28 Shops with Outstanding Experience and 150% in Sales Growth

Kömpf, a family-owned German DIY and building materials retailer operating 28 online shops alongside its brick-and-mortar stores, was held back by an outdated, monolithic Magento platform with database, performance and code-quality limitations. To regain flexibility, technology ownership and the ability to build fast, custom digital USPs, Kömpf migrated its commerce system from Magento to Spryker.

On Spryker’s headless, API-first platform (integrated with Akeneo and ElasticSearch), Kömpf centralized and orchestrated 28 niche and central shops, launched improved UX and service features (online booking for delivery/assembly, chat, order tracking) and enabled very fast rollouts (e.g., Weber spare parts in under a week). The Spryker implementation more than doubled the product catalog to 300,000 items, supported €65M in e‑commerce revenue in 2021, and drove a combined 150% sales increase in 2020–2021 versus 2019.
