Paneco is a fast-growing online liquor retailer founded in 2015 that expanded from Israel to Latin America and established its Asia distribution base in Singapore with the ambition of becoming “the Amazon of alcohol.” The company needed a highly customizable, scalable platform that would let it own IP, capture customer and sales data, automate operations, and adapt to different country regulations and local tastes — all while going to market quickly.

Paneco built on the Spree (Ruby on Rails) framework and extended it with custom features — e.g., “Happy Hour” time-based discounts, a one-click checkout, fuzzy search via ElasticSearch, and an integrated IMS for procurement and compliance.
