3M Racing, a division of 3M, wanted to boost brand exposure and product promotion while giving fans a meaningful say in the team's marketing. Working with NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, their challenge was to increase social engagement and grow their fan base by inviting customers to interact with the brand in a sports-marketing context.

They launched the #3MThrowback social contest using Spredfast Promotions across Facebook and Twitter, building the app in‑house and promoting it online and offline (including a hashtag on Biffle’s car). The campaign generated 2,779 votes, 1,000+ leads, a 5x average monthly Facebook fan growth (platform followers rose ~7% on Facebook and ~6% on Twitter), identified Facebook mobile as the top referrer, and saved thousands by avoiding external development.
