Southern Alberta Institute of Technology trains 100 students with Spotlight Reporting

The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) sought to modernize its accounting curriculum to better prepare students for the technological demands of the industry. An Accounting Instructor, Steve Janz, recognized the need to move students beyond manual processes and traditional software like Excel to more advanced, automated tools integrated with the Xero ecosystem.

SAIT implemented Spotlight Reporting to teach students how to quickly generate complex consolidated financial reports. The solution enabled students to create reports in minutes instead of weeks, making them highly proficient with the software. As a result, nearly 100 students became Spotlight Certified, significantly boosting their employability. Graduates with these certifications are in high demand, with employers valuing their immediate ability to use Spotlight Reporting, and students have received job interviews specifically for listing these skills.
