City of Melbourne partnered with Spotless Group to manage around-the-clock cleaning and maintenance across the city. The challenge was to keep public spaces clean and operational while supporting the council’s sustainability goals, including reduced emissions, recycling, and energy efficiency.

Spotless Group implemented a broad cleaning and sustainability service covering street sweeping, rubbish collection, weed control, graffiti removal, and storm clean-up, while also supporting major public events with minimal traffic disruption. Spotless introduced carbon-neutral street-cleaning measures such as improved vehicle maintenance and route planning, biofuels in the sweeping fleet, and use of rainwater and recycled water for washing and pressure cleaning, with remaining emissions offset through carbon credits supporting the Kariba REDD+ project.
