The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), alongside the Victorian Government, needed a world-class solution to support Victoria’s first utility-scale, grid-connected battery energy storage system in Ballarat. Spotless Group provided sustainability services to help deliver the project, working with partners across the consortium to manage the design and construction of the new energy storage facility.

Spotless Group implemented the Ballarat Battery Energy Storage System, a 30 MW/30 MWh lithium-ion battery installation at AusNet Services’ Ballarat Terminal Station. The project was commissioned from Fluence and, once accepted by AusNet Services and AEMO, enabled EnergyAustralia to operate the charge and discharge of the system, creating a landmark grid-connected storage asset for Victoria.
