Wintershall Noordzee turns data into self-service insights for operational excellence

Wintershall Noordzee, a natural gas producer in the North Sea, was struggling with outdated data management methods using spreadsheets and physical reports. This made it difficult to efficiently analyze geological data and compete with larger companies. They needed a central, searchable portal to bring their data sources together for easier analysis. They turned to vendor Spotfire for a solution.

The solution, built on TIBCO Spotfire software, was a self-service data platform called Crossfire. This allowed users to access and explore data themselves, drastically reducing the time spent gathering information from eight hours to nearly real time. This empowered geologists and engineers to analyze data faster and gain new insights. Spotfire's tools helped break down data silos, providing greater transparency and saving the company massive amounts of time, ultimately enabling them to compete more effectively.
