SMT Shipping, a bulk cargo transportation company, faced the challenge of meeting new international sustainability regulations and optimizing its growing fleet operations. With data locked in disparate systems like Excel, the company needed to democratize data access to gain insights into energy consumption, carbon emissions, and operational costs. They partnered with vendor TIBCO and its partner ilionx to address this.

The solution involved building a robust data and analytics platform using TIBCO Spotfire on Microsoft Azure. This provided over 70 users with global access to data through interactive dashboards, consolidating information from more than 100 tables. The implementation by TIBCO gave SMT Shipping the control and insights needed to understand cost variations, monitor fleet performance in real-time, and prepare for future decarbonization regulations.
