ASX modernizes the securities exchange

The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) faced the challenge of modernizing its extensive legacy technology infrastructure to maintain its industry leadership. The market operator needed to consolidate its many financial systems under one roof and ensure maximum security and reliability while processing trillions of dollars in transactions. To achieve this, ASX partnered with vendor Spotfire to implement a new data architecture using microservices, containers, and Apache Kafka messaging.

The solution from Spotfire provided ASX with a future-proof technology core, which included a new shared data processing platform. This modernization effort resulted in 100% uptime of Spotfire's solutions for over 20 years and the ability to process over 100 million messages per day. The project significantly improved operational resilience, reducing customer-facing incidents by approximately 78% and creating a new data-as-a-service revenue stream called DataSphere.
