Walla! News Runs it's Amazon ECS Clusters on Spotinst Elastigroup

Walla!News, a leading Israeli web portal owned by Bezeq, needed a reliable, cost‑efficient way to run Amazon ECS clusters so container Tasks and Services always had the capacity to run without overprovisioning. They worked with Spot (using Spotinst Elastigroup) to solve the challenge of dynamically scaling cluster capacity and ensuring containers could be placed immediately.

Spot implemented Elastigroup for Amazon ECS, applying "Tetris Scaling" to optimize task placement and automatic Headroom management to keep spare CPU/memory so new containers can start without delay. The Spot solution delivers "Serverless Containers"—dynamically scaling clusters up and down (including to zero when idle)—resulting in consistently available tasks, improved resource utilization, reduced idle capacity and lower operational overhead for Walla!News.
