VTEX Use Spotinst Elastigroup To Increase RI Utilization And Maximise Cost Efficiency With Spot

VTEX, a leading SaaS commerce platform, faced underutilized Reserved Instances (RIs) and difficulty achieving cost‑efficient scaling across many accounts and environments. To address this, VTEX partnered with Spot and adopted Spot's Elastigroup to enable safe, automated use of Spot Instances alongside their RI investment.

Spot’s Elastigroup was configured to prioritize and automatically utilize VTEX’s unutilized RIs and then scale the remainder of clusters with Spot Instances (integrating with Elastic Beanstalk ASGs). The result: VTEX went from never using Spot to running Spot in production within two days, achieved full RI utilization with no interruptions, reduced operational burden on DevOps, and unlocked more cost‑efficient, robust scaling.
