Traiana improves CI/CD workflow while reducing cloud costs by 70% with Elastigroup

Traiana, a CME Group company that provides global pre- and post-trade processing, risk management, and regulatory compliance services, needed to cut AWS cloud costs and improve their CI/CD workflow while keeping their existing Terraform-based deployments and Auto Scaling Group (ASG) architecture. They engaged Spot and its Elastigroup solution to enable use of EC2 spot instances without disrupting their existing processes.

Spot implemented Elastigroup (with the Terraform Elastigroup plugin) to import Traiana’s ASGs and run Cassandra clusters on mixed spot/reserved/on‑demand instances, and deployed the Spot Jenkins Plugin to auto-scale Jenkins worker nodes on spot instances. The result: Traiana reduced cloud computing costs by over 70%, preserved developer workflows (no changes required to deploy Cassandra), and improved CI/CD efficiency by automatically provisioning and draining Jenkins slaves via Spot’s Elastigroup.
