Petlove Utilizes Spotinst To Save Over 70% Running Kubernetes On Google Cloud

Petlove, Brazil’s largest online pet shop serving over 1 million daily visitors, faced rising cloud compute costs across its multi‑cloud environment and identified Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) as the main target for optimization. To address this, Petlove partnered with Spot, leveraging Spot’s Elastigroup support for GKE (Spotinst) and its container/instance autoscaling to explore running on Google Preemptible VMs.

Spot implemented Elastigroup and its container and instance autoscaling to run Petlove’s GKE nodes on Preemptible VMs, automatically scaling and right‑sizing instances based on pending pods with no architectural changes. The deployment was quick and delivered measurable impact: Petlove cut GKE compute costs by over 70%, reduced wasted capacity, and achieved automated, optimized scaling with Spot.
