On The Dot Achieves 73% Savings Using Spotinst ECS Integration

On The Dot, a fast-growing urban delivery platform, needed to hold onto developer agility while bringing down cloud costs. Their bespoke ECS and Auto Scaling setup made using Spot Instances difficult without a major re‑architecture, so the team worked with Spot to find a way to reduce spend without devoting large amounts of engineering time.

Spot implemented its ECS integration and autoscaler (Elastigroup), adding ECS Task Placement Constraints and intelligent scaling (headroom, smart scaling, Tetris Scaling), enabling On The Dot to migrate dev and test environments in an afternoon. The result: On The Dot now runs nearly all applicable workloads on Spot, achieved 73% savings, benefits from 24/7 support, and has freed developers to explore EKS and serverless initiatives.
