How Powerlinks integrated Spotinst and CodeDeploy to save ~80% without making any architectural changes

PowerLinks is a programmatic native advertising platform that runs 1,000+ instances and needed to cut rapidly rising cloud costs without changing its architecture. As heavy users of AWS CodeDeploy, PowerLinks required a solution that would integrate seamlessly with their existing deployment workflows — and turned to Spot’s Elastigroup for that integration.

Spot integrated Elastigroup with PowerLinks’ AWS CodeDeploy deployment groups, allowing EC2 Spot and Reserved Instances to be launched and managed as the infrastructure layer for deployments. The migration of Production completed in two weeks with no downtime, and PowerLinks reported compute cost reductions of nearly 80%; they are now planning to migrate ECS and Elasticsearch workloads to additional Spot features.
