EyeEm Achieve 138,000 Hours On Spot And Save 72%

EyeEm, a global community of 20 million photographers, needed a better way to reduce cloud compute costs without losing flexibility or adding operational overhead. Reserved Instances were too inflexible, while managing Spot Instances manually was too time-consuming for the infrastructure team. To address this, EyeEm turned to Spot and its Elastigroup service.

With Spotinst Elastigroup, EyeEm automated EC2 Spot Instance provisioning and gained automated fallback, predictive analytics, and support for workloads including EMR clusters. The result was major savings and less manual management: EyeEm reported 138,189 Spot hours, 71.28% savings, and reduced On-Demand usage to 6,806 hours. Spot also freed up the developer and infrastructure team to focus on product work instead of instance management.
