ETAS simplified their CI/CD workflow and saved 50% using EC2 spot instances

ETAS, a Bosch subsidiary that builds embedded systems, faced high compute costs and operational complexity running Terraform-provisioned Jenkins CI/CD infrastructure on AWS. They wanted to reduce cost and simplify scaling while reliably using EC2 Spot instances, so they evaluated solutions and chose Spot’s Elastigroup (along with Spot’s Terraform and Jenkins plugins).

Spot implemented Elastigroup to import ETAS’s Auto Scaling Groups, automatically manage Spot/on‑demand capacity, and employ predictive draining and intelligent auto-scaling; the Spot Terraform and Jenkins plugins let ETAS deploy Spot-based instances without changing developer workflows and automatically scale Jenkins slaves. As a result, ETAS reduced cloud computing costs by 50%, streamlined CI/CD operations, and gained automated, reliable scaling with Spot.
