Cybereason, a provider of endpoint detection and response and advanced investigation services, faced rapidly rising AWS costs as it scaled—especially from supporting many product versions and costly developer lab environments. After an initial DIY attempt to use EC2 Spot Instances ran into edge cases like re‑mounting EBS volumes and preserving public/private IPs, Cybereason engaged Spot to evaluate Elastigroup’s stateful solution.

Spot’s Elastigroup preserved root and data volumes and ENIs/private IPs, predicted interruptions and migrated instances or fell back to on‑demand, and scheduled graceful scale‑downs outside business hours to minimize waste. Using Elastigroup’s mix of Spot, On‑Demand and Reserved instances, Cybereason cut cloud computing costs by over 50% across development and production (including CI servers) while maintaining availability.
