Carbon Enjoys Azure Kubernetes Service For 80% Less

Carbon is a next-generation Data Management Platform that processes over 1 billion events daily and migrated its back-end to a microservices container architecture on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). Facing unpredictable, global traffic and DIY provisioning issues with Azure Low‑Priority VMs that caused pods to be unsafely removed and occasional downtime, Carbon engaged Spot to help manage and optimize the underlying AKS infrastructure.

Spot implemented automated node lifecycle management (cordon/drain/migrate) and advanced autoscaling/bin‑packing integrated with AKS, HPA and VPA, plus real‑time cost and cluster visibility and automatic fallback to on‑demand capacity. The Spot solution stabilized Carbon’s clusters, prevented downtime from VM interruptions, and delivered average cloud‑compute cost savings of about 80%.
