A SPM Assets Case Study
Cumberland Council, a local government organization in New South Wales, faced challenges due to its reactive maintenance policies for 176 buildings. With incomplete data and paper-based systems, the council had limited knowledge of its portfolio's condition and struggled to secure funding. They partnered with vendor SPM Assets to implement a planned asset management approach.
SPM Assets conducted detailed condition assessments and provided their software to create a component-level asset register. This solution enabled Cumberland Council to produce evidence-based 20-year forecasts and works programs. As a result, the council successfully secured Special Rate Variations for funding and transformed its maintenance approach from 90% reactive to a 50/50 split between reactive and planned. SPM Assets also helped the council consistently manage additional buildings after an amalgamation.
