Viasat, a global communications provider for consumers, businesses and governments, faced legacy network conditions and fragmented telemetry that were impacting residential and mobility customers. The company needed a way to ingest diverse data sets, operationalize analytics across teams, protect the customer experience and strengthen security while supporting rapid business growth.

Viasat deployed Splunk Enterprise, IT Service Intelligence, Enterprise Security and the Machine Learning Toolkit to operationalize machine learning and predictive analytics, correlate services and monitor IoT sensors. The platform enabled proactive, predictive monitoring and automated remediation—cutting event remediation from 20–60+ minutes to about five minutes—improved cross-team collaboration, bolstered threat detection, and scaled observability from roughly 6GB/day to nearly 1TB/day.
