A Splunk Case Study
SaskTel, Saskatchewan’s leading ICT provider, needed a scalable way to gain enterprise-wide visibility into IT and security systems, replace a manual, hours‑long call trace process, and move toward predictive analytics to maintain excellent customer service and speed product launches. Existing open‑source tooling wasn’t scaling and visualization and troubleshooting were taking too much development time.
By deploying Splunk Enterprise across the SOC, NOC and operations teams, SaskTel centralized data from routers, switches, servers, firewalls, load balancers and call detail records for about 700 active users. The result: ROI in 90 days, call traces reduced to seconds, improved incident detection and response, faster prototyping and time‑to‑market for new services (for example, new mySASKTEL features), and near‑seamless expansion and upgrades of the monitoring platform.
