Maryland’s Prince George’s County Mission-Ready With Splunk Platform

Prince George’s County, Maryland — home to nearly one million residents and institutions like NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and the University of Maryland — relies on a centralized Office of Information Technology (OIT) to support dozens of agencies across 500 square miles. With a small team and limited funding, OIT struggled with siloed data, slow troubleshooting (including persistent account lockouts), rising cyberthreats, and the need to ensure reliable citizen access to essential online services.

By deploying Splunk Enterprise and related apps (Palo Alto, ForeScout, Tenable/Nessus, Windows Infrastructure), the county consolidated visibility across ~100 sites, 500 network devices and 300 servers to monitor IT operations, applications and security. The platform cut time-to-resolution for issues from days or weeks to hours, improved government efficiency and transparency, strengthened security and compliance (ISO 27001 support), and enabled more proactive detection and response to threats.
