A Splunk Case Study
AZL, a Netherlands-based pension fund manager and subsidiary of Nationale Nederlanden/ING, oversees more than 60 funds and 550,000 participants. The firm’s small security team needed better visibility to meet strict security and compliance requirements: a manual, error-prone monthly SAS70 report that took 20–24 hours, delayed daily transaction reports that were at least 24 hours old, and slow, labor-intensive incident investigations.
AZL deployed Splunk Enterprise to collect and index machine data, build real-time dashboards, and automate reporting. The result: SAS70 report time dropped from about 24 hours to 4 hours, fund-transfer status is visible in real time to operations staff, and security investigations are faster and more proactive—improving compliance, ensuring accurate transfers, and enabling earlier detection of security issues.
