Netsmart, a provider of SaaS and traditional software for more than 18,000 health and human services organizations, needed greater IT visibility to deliver services reliably and meet tighter compliance standards. Their environment produced massive volumes of web, backup, and application logs that were siloed across dozens of servers, making correlation, searching, incident investigation, capacity planning and compliance reporting slow, manual, and error-prone; managing server-by-server permissions added security and compliance risks.

Netsmart deployed Splunk Enterprise and the Splunk Enterprise Security Suite to index and correlate all IT data, automate compliance monitoring, and centralize role-based access via Active Directory. The change delivered faster incident detection and resolution, ad hoc and scheduled reports in minutes instead of hours, improved productivity and capacity planning through executive dashboards, and provided the log evidence that helped pass a SAS 70 audit.
