Case Study: WePay achieves faster release cadence and seamless microservices migration with Split

A Split Case Study

How WePay Ramped Up its Release Cadence & Migrated to Microservices Using Split

WePay is a payments platform that powers transactions across apps and merchants, so any infrastructure change or new feature can have cascading effects on user experience and revenue. Their release cadence, intended to be weekly, slipped to biweekly and constrained major feature work, while a monolithic, PHP-based stack made migrating to microservices risky without downtime.

By adopting Split’s feature flags and targeting, WePay decoupled feature releases from code deploys—deploying features in the “off” state, testing internally and with select customers, then gradually ramping up. Split’s multi-language support enabled a smooth monolith-to-microservices migration, improved QA (quickly isolating a card-decline issue), increased release velocity, and freed engineering resources to focus on core work.
