Virginia Tech Remotely Manages & Supports Over 2,200 Devices Across 140 Sites with Splashtop Remote Support

Virginia Tech’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) manages more than 2,200 computers and devices across 140 sites with a small IT team, including help desk staff and Area Information Technologists. The team needed a better way to support distant users without spending so much time and money on travel, and its previous remote support tool, SimpleHelp, proved unreliable and confusing for users. Virginia Tech turned to Splashtop Remote Support to solve the problem.

With Splashtop Remote Support, Virginia Tech CALS gained persistent unattended access to managed devices, along with features like two-factor authentication, grouping, attended support, and file transfer. The team has used the solution for more than 9,000 remote connections in less than three years, reducing travel, speeding up issue resolution, and helping staff support users more efficiently from the office or remotely. Virginia Tech also expanded use of Splashtop to enable more than 50 staff members to remotely access their office or lab PCs.
