Laney College’s Career and Technical Education division needed a fast way to keep students connected to high-powered lab software when COVID-19 shut down campus. The college’s programs rely on applications like Photoshop, AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, and SolidWorks, but many students didn’t have computers powerful enough to run them at home. Laney College turned to Splashtop Business Access to provide remote access to on-campus lab computers, including for Chromebook users.

With Splashtop, Laney College enabled students to securely control lab machines from their own laptops, tablets, and mobile devices with HD-quality, low-latency streaming. The solution was quick to deploy, easy for students to use without training, and well received by instructors and IT. Laney College said the setup was a “big deal” that allowed students to continue socially distant classes and complete their certificates and degrees.
