Providing Remote Computer Access for the Next Generation of Music Producers and Sound Engineers

Abbey Road Institute, a specialist music production and sound engineering school, had to quickly shift from in-person to online teaching during the March 2020 lockdown. The school needed a way to give students remote access to powerful on-campus computers running industry software like Pro Tools and Logic Pro X, while also supporting HD audio streaming for practical coursework. Abbey Road Institute chose Splashtop Enterprise for remote labs to help meet these remote learning needs.

Using Splashtop, Abbey Road Institute enabled students to access lab computers from home on any device, including Chromebooks, while faculty and IT could also support and access devices remotely. The solution helped the institute continue delivering hands-on training, with up to 80 students and 10 staff members using it, and led them to purchase 20 iMacs for the mac labs to further support distant learning.
