Imperial Valley College, a Southern California college serving about 12,000 students, needed a way to remotely support faculty and staff devices when COVID-19 shut down campus. Before the shutdown, IT handled issues in person or with TightVNC on the internal network, but that approach no longer worked once laptops were off campus and users needed remote help with installations and admin-credential prompts.
Imperial Valley College evaluated several tools and chose Splashtop, specifically Splashtop SOS, for remote troubleshooting because it allowed technicians to connect with local admin rights and take over full-screen sessions. With Splashtop, the IT team was able to support devices remotely, replace TightVNC, and work more efficiently by handling quick fixes from their desks and better distributing support tasks across the team.
