Accelerated GNSS receiver testing with Spirent Test as a Service

A global manufacturer of quadbikes and motorbikes needed to evaluate and improve the performance of its in-vehicle GNSS receivers to provide highly accurate, continuous positioning data for its customers. The challenge was to test the receivers under dynamic, real-world conditions to identify any weaknesses and ensure they outperformed competitor systems, all while avoiding the high costs and time associated with in-house testing. Spirent Communications was engaged for its Test as a Service offering.

Spirent implemented a three-stage project using its GSS7000 simulator and GSS6450 record and playback system. The service involved troubleshooting the receiver's performance under various signal conditions, benchmarking it against previous models, and providing a detailed analysis. The results confirmed the customer's latest receiver was the top performer, though an issue with Bluetooth interference was identified. This analysis allowed the customer to pursue targeted resolutions, ensuring they could deliver superior, high-precision location tracking and maintain their competitive edge.
