A Spire Case Study
SATAVIA, a decision‑intelligence company combining AI, data science and atmospheric expertise, needed live risk assessments as countries began opening air bridges to avoid renewed international COVID‑19 transmission. To monitor and forecast importation risk along passenger routes, SATAVIA integrated aircraft tracking data from Spire into its analyses and interfaces.
SATAVIA built a model and dashboard that corrects reported case data for under‑reporting and delays, forecasts infected passengers and destination impact, and breaks risk down by route, airline and airport; live aircraft‑tracking from Spire enables real‑time updates and historical analysis. The solution highlighted measurable risks—identifying Spain, Italy and France as highest‑risk routes, showing Heathrow as the largest UK import contributor, and detecting post‑July flight increases—giving policymakers, airports and airlines actionable, quantitative projections of daily infectious imports.
