Oceanbolt, an intelligence platform provider, faced persistent AIS message collisions and data gaps in high-traffic dry bulk ports that prevented complete vessel records and accurate real-time trade flow insights—particularly in the South China Sea. To tackle this problem, Oceanbolt turned to Spire and its Dynamic AIS service to supplement their satellite AIS feeds.

Spire’s Dynamic AIS was added to Oceanbolt’s AIS feed mix and combined with geospatial analytics and berth/port polygons to detect enter/exit events at berth level. The solution delivered measurable improvements—a 4% uplift in global port call detection and a 10% increase in South East Asia—giving Oceanbolt and its customers more accurate, actionable dry bulk trade analytics.
