Case Study: Gravity Supply Chain achieves real-time end-to-end high-seas visibility with Spire's satellite AIS API

A Spire Case Study

Preview of the Gravity Supply Chain Case Study

How Gravity Supply Chain uses AIS to provide end-to-end supply chain visibility for greater management control

Gravity Supply Chain, a developer of real-time supply chain management solutions, faced the challenge of providing true end-to-end visibility with no blind spots and without relying on error-prone, manually updated 3PL vessel reports. To solve this, Gravity partnered with Spire to ingest frequent, accurate satellite AIS position data via Spire Maritime’s Messages API, giving them reliable in-transit vessel visibility.

Spire’s Messages API integrated seamlessly with Gravity’s platform, allowing filtering by IMO, last port, destination, speed and more to support live tracking, ETA prediction and fewer administrative queries. The results were measurable: one customer captured 100% of ETA changes versus 43% with the prior system, and another reduced administrative labor costs by 6%. Gravity cites fast implementation and is expanding its relationship with Spire to include ads-b and maritime weather data.
