How a satellite-based IP communications network went from concept to real-world testing in 6 months

Orbitare needed a flexible, established infrastructure to test its new satellite-based data transport network and SPACELOOP IP messaging application. To move quickly from concept to real-world validation, Orbitare partnered with Spire and used Spire Space Services’ in-space software-defined satellite platform.

Spire implemented a dual-mission approach: first deploying SPACELOOP software on its on-orbit network for testing, then supporting a hosted payload mission with end-to-end service, including the satellite platform, launch, and ground segment. With Spire, Orbitare began in-space testing in less than six months and accelerated its demonstration missions at a fraction of the cost, creating a faster path to market.
