Case Study: SPAR achieves centralized time and attendance control with Spica

A Spica Case Study

SPAR manages time and attendance for 10,000 employees with Spica

SPAR Slovenia, a large grocery retailer and part of the SPAR Group, faced the challenge of managing time, attendance, and access control for approximately 10,000 employees across its many locations in Slovenia and Croatia. Their existing systems needed to support significant growth and ensure accurate oversight of overtime and related costs. To address this, they partnered with vendor Spica to implement a centralized time and attendance system integrated with SAP, alongside a separate access control solution.

Spica’s solution provided a certified interface with SAP, ensuring all clocking data was synchronized for centralized payroll processing. The implementation resulted in a highly efficient system managed by just two people and produced very few errors. Key outcomes included precise oversight of overtime costs and streamlined processes, such as automatically accounting for a 15-minute grace period for employee arrivals and departures. The Spica system successfully scaled to nearly 250 locations, providing robust support for the retailer's extensive operations.
