Sphere Partners was engaged to conduct a technical due diligence for a potential acquisition of a B2B transportation hub. The customer, valuing the business network over its technology, needed to understand the cost and risk of maintaining and eventually decommissioning the platform over 12-18 months, facing challenges like a dated tech stack, an OS nearing end-of-life, and a problematic vendor contract.
Sphere Partners implemented a three-part mitigation plan. They renegotiated the external development contract to a fixed retainer, migrated the application to AWS to resolve talent and security issues, and locked down the platform to run securely during the customer transition. As a result, Sphere Partners enabled a successful acquisition; the OS migration was completed, customers were transitioned without disruption, and the legacy system was decommissioned on schedule.
