Yara Uses SDS Authoring, Managed Regulatory Content as Foundation for World-Class Product Stewardship

Yara International ASA, the world’s largest fertilizer company, needed to upgrade its Safety Data Sheet (SDS) authoring and chemical compliance to meet stricter REACH, CLP and other HSE mandates, integrate with its SAP-based IT environment, and drive continuous improvement of SDS processes. To address this, Yara selected Sphera and its Compliance Engine for EHS to create an integrated chemical compliance system compatible with corporate SAP infrastructure.

Sphera implemented its Compliance Engine for EHS integrated with Yara’s SAP platform and enabled Yara to develop algorithms for faster SDS authoring and the creation of one-page Yara Product Safety Cards. As a result, Sphera helped Yara manage exponential SDS growth, standardize and improve SDS quality across the global enterprise, automate SDS distribution, increase audit transparency by linking sheets to chemical composition and decisions, and produce quick-reference safety cards more rapidly.
