Case Study: YPF achieves automated, transparent sustainability reporting and 15× faster data collection with Sphera's SpheraCloud

The Key to Better Performance and Transparency

YPF, a Buenos Aires–based energy company, faced an outdated, Excel-based environmental data collection system that hindered transparency and KPI tracking across its operations. To modernize reporting and automate emissions, waste, water and biodiversity data aggregation, YPF engaged Sphera and selected SpheraCloud Corporate Sustainability (SCCS) to replace manual processes and support evolving ESG requirements.

Sphera implemented SCCS (with implementation support from ERM), automating data collection across 150 sites and cutting the collection cycle from 15 days to 1, while delivering role-based dashboards and training 300 users. The Sphera solution improved data quality with up-to-date emissions factors, enabled in‑house reporting (reducing consultant costs), increased traceability for audits, and shifted YPF’s focus from collection to analysis to better track progress toward sustainability and net‑zero goals.
