PSEG Transforms Environmental Compliance into Powerful Driver for Operational Efficiency, Sustainability

Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG), New Jersey’s largest investor‑owned utility, faced growing regulatory complexity and fragmented, facility‑level systems that relied on thousands of spreadsheets and single‑person knowledge to manage air, water and waste compliance, permits, GHG reporting and operational accountability. To centralize and standardize compliance and reporting, PSEG implemented an enterprise EMIS built on Sphera opsInfo™ as part of the Sphera Environmental Performance Solution™.

Sphera delivered a consolidated Environmental Performance and Compliance Assurance solution (air & GHG, water, waste, compliance assurance and task management) that replaced 20 legacy systems and thousands of spreadsheets with one enterprise EMIS; enabled centralized tracking of 80,000+ tasks for 200+ permits; automated data integration (including 8,000 air emission points per minute and lab/ESOC feeds); and cut monthly water reporting from 3 days to a few hours, while providing timely KPIs for corporate scorecards and sustainability reporting. Sphera’s EMIS also improved institutional knowledge, operational efficiency and broader task‑management adoption across PSEG.
