Maximizing Efficiency with Improved Data Management

Northrop Grumman faced an outdated, homegrown safety data sheet (SDS) system that left much data unqueryable, required manual ERP entry, and varied across sites—making GHS compliance and efficient chemical management difficult. After an RFQ, they selected Sphera, choosing Sphera’s Chemical Management solution (part of spheraCloud) to replace the manual processes.

Sphera implemented its Chemical Management solution with ERP integration, broad data indexing and query/join capabilities (including GHS status), initially at 12 sites and expanded to 50. The deployment delivered measurable impact: 20,000 active SDSs indexed, 50,000 material specifications managed, system-to-system integration, reduced redundancies, time and cost savings, and improved transparency across Northrop Grumman.
